I don’t know a lot of things for sure in this life, but over the years I have come to be quite certain of the fact that my soul is here on this planet to grow. I have a gnawing feeling that your’s is, too, so I thought it might be helpful if I shared some of the books that have inspired me along the way. Books that have made me think differently. Books that have lit the little spark of my soul and helped it to grow into what is now a raging fire within. It didn’t happen over night, but reading these books and doing some work (daily) has made my experience of myself and this life way more enjoyable and meaningful. And, in a time where many are confused about how to find true joy, I am here to say that it is not found in a very large bank account or house, but rather, it is found in a life spent growing one’s heart and soul. I recently got honest with my husband about some credit card debt I had been hiding, and he took it so well I couldn’t believe it. He smiled and said we’d work out a plan. (What?!) Why am I telling you this? Well, I just wanted to let you know that I am not rich in money, and I still have plenty of issues I am working on, but getting honest about what I’ve been avoiding has been one of the key factors in creating change and joy in my life. Bringing our darkness into the light is how we make things better. Hiding my credit issues was only making me more anxious and scared. Avoiding my sketchy spending habits only added to my fear, and over time, it also added a lot to my credit card balance. In my life there has been an overriding theme and it is this: face the darkness head on and you will find the light. That is the only way, my friends. Avoidance, distraction and numbing out will never work long term. They are temporary fixes that will never bring a deep and lasting sense of contentment and peace. Growth is painful. Scary. Dark. It’s not all love and light, but facing our shadows is how we get to the light and find our own. My life is not perfect, but I am always trying to grow my soul and I think that’s why I’ve found so much joy along the way. I spent many years in darkness, but growing my soul has been my path to a beautiful life. Here are some books that have helped me along the way. I have so much respect and gratitude for these authors who have shared their light in book form for all of us to read. My soul has been quenched by these brilliant words and ideas, so if your soul is thirsty, maybe pick up one of these books today. Happy Sunday, folks!

Some of these are out there, but sometimes we have to open our minds a bit to let the magic in. Happy reading!
