The Magic of Journaling

(Journal entry, 11/11/17)

The day feels full of possibility. It’s cool and a bit windy. The leaves are dancing. Sam felt called to go outside all by himself. My little hippie. He found a caterpillar by a leaf on the driveway. He’s going to get it on a stick and place it in the bushes. He’s gonna save him from me running him over. Good little boy of mine. His heart is something else. Loud voice. Big heart. I have high hopes for him. He is a force, even at such young age. So much love in his little heart. He doesn’t keep it in and people feel it. He’s special. Full of drama and delight. But the happy, expressive kind of drama (mostly). The drama that makes you giggle and want to squeeze him. So funny. He makes everyone laugh. He’s like my little sprite. Love him so.

11:11. What is the deal with these numbers? More and more I see them. It’s crazy. Alignment, many say. Signs that we are in alignment with our soul’s path/purpose. That feels good. Gives me a boost. A prod from the Universe makes me want to keep going. It’s significant. I believe in signs. Always have. They’ve gotten me through a lot so far. I don’t feel so alone when the Universe sends me signs. Synchronicity is a cool way we are nudged. It’s as it should be. Pay attention. Don’t be freaked out. Just be happy and keep going. Pay attention to your soul’s desire. That desire is calling you to your destiny. Small steps every day in the direction of your dreams is all that is asked. Don’t give up. Baby steps are okay. Just keep going forward no matter what. No more stagnation. The stillness of meditation is necessary, yes, but the actions and willingness to move toward your dreams are crucial.

You must discipline yourself to find ultimate freedom. This discipline is not fierce or frightening, but rather a gentle uplifting force from within to get you moving in the right direction for your soul’s mission. We all have a soul mission. You. Me. The guy at the gas station. All. Of. Us. Pay attention to what your heart truly craves. It’s not crazy. It’s your birthright. Planted inside you. Your life is a growing of your purpose. The stages of your life are like a growing plant. There are seasons of flowering and seasons of rest. Honor all parts of your growing process. They are all beautiful and serve their purpose. Each lesson learned along the way is like a beautiful blossom, completely unfurled into all it’s glory. Be grateful for each lesson and honor the pain that has sometimes been necessary. Nothing is meaningless. There are no accidents here. You are not an accident, even if your parents said you were. A plan is a plan is a plan. Destiny is destiny. All is as it should be and you are a part of the Great Divine.

Live in the magic that surrounds you. It’s everywhere. It is the stuff you are made of. Feel glorious. Be glorious. That is the truest kind of worship. Embrace all that you are. As within, so without. All is love. Live mightily. Go in the direction of your heart’s calling. An authentic life yields the greatest treasures and a joyous soul is gold.

*I read this to myself and it kind of boggled my mind. Journaling connects you to something higher; something higher in the universe, or maybe just to your higher self who’s always there in the background cheering you on, even when you suck and make shitty decisions. For 1 year before having the guts to start this blog, I did morning pages every day. These are 3 pages of stream of consciousness journaling that are part of the creativity recovery process that is the focus of the book, The Artist’s Way, by Julia Cameron. (Damn, I really like wordy sentences). I think we are all artists in some way, but the world runs us down and we forget, or we’re just too tired to try. I strongly recommend The Artist’s Way to anyone reading this post. And if you don’t feel like it,  that’s cool, but maybe try some daily journaling. Weird stuff comes out when we empty our minds onto the page. I always write in a real journal because there is something magical for me in actual writing instead of typing. I dig some old school ways. Pen and paper are my thing. I believe we all have some amazing stuff stashed away in our beautifully twisted little minds. So get yourself a journal. Start today.

Happy Friday!

Live like ya mean it! 🙂
